Denver beat the Talons in the final of the State Games 5-3. The
Talons were 3-1 down at half time, and started a revival in the
second half bringing the score to 3-3. But Lizzy got the all important
4th goal for Denver to help take the pressure off them and with
a few minutes left in the game they scored a 5th to beat Colorado
Springs who have won it for the past few years. Fort Collins won
third place, beating the Cougars.
On Sunday morning Whit dislocated his shoulder whilst playing in
the first game of the day. For an update on how he is, read
the post on the message board. Thanks to the other keepers for
stepping in and helping ALL the teams out.
Jerry is leaving us and moving to Iowa soon, so this could be his
last state games. I don't know for sure, but I assume he was Talons
top scorer. He will be missed, but maybe not by the defenders and
goal keepers!! However, when we play in tournaments we may be able
to find a spot on the the team for him, unless we find another player
who can score one million goals in 1 game. Good luck Jerry and stay
in touch.
Paige is also leaving us, and is also going to Iowa....but not with
Jerry! She is off to college and will be playing hockey for the
University of Iowa. Good luck with your first year.
